The World of Lotei
Forces of Men
Loopin
Known for their legendary loyalty and hospitality, they have struck alliances with the other races. But beware the doomseers, followers of Bywracle and their powers of apocalypse.
Avanna
Followers of the dead Keeper of Wisdom, Akioli. Prior to the keeper's fall thousands of years ago, the Avanna were still a major part of society. Now they have withdrawn, most choosing instead to patrol the skies and stay out of the quarrels of the other races.
Ungol
Tasked with the growth and protection of all life, many make the hard decision to never harm any living being. In return they are given mastery of Life Magic by the Keeper Viyv. They are strong and hardy, able to withstand even the Urson in combat.
Urson
Powerful and deadly, the bear people have carved out a part in modern Lotei as businessmen, warriors and labourers. Most Urson are only matched in size by the largest of the other races. Masters of all climates, they live in the icy north harpooning monsters as well as the forests and plains of South Konik.
Arachyn
The mysterious Arachyn were tasked by the Keeper of Death, Kazzizadek to wrangle and help souls seek the afterlife. Strange and misunderstood, they always crave mischief and debauchery. Their lives are short, they are reborn with fleeting memories of past lives.
Dinorn
The most diverse of the races of Lotei, they loosely follow the Keeper of Chance, Jabril. Their empire was the first on the Isles, and they have held a prominent part in inter-island politics ever since. Though they are far more likely to fight amongst themselves than the other races.
Otorom
Beings from the stars whom crash landed on the large central island of Mondus. The environment of Lotei makes it hard for them to survive. However, their prowess in technology has allowed them to negate the effects of Lotei and thrive. The grand city of Newstad stands as a testament to their aptitude for alliances and trade.
Grolen
Their mastery of stone magic and crafting has helped them thrive in this new age. Relgrum is filled with natural resources, making the Grolen wealthy which they display in their grand cities. Aymon, Keeper of Fate has a deep connection with the Grolen who value familial bonds and ancestors far more than the other peoples.
Forces of the Dark Lord
Gaatu
The many catman who followed Defurox in his discoveries of the unknown. These beings are quick and fearsome, even prior to recieving augmented technology and magic. It is assumed Defurox commands them from across the Broken Sea.
Hesharim
An ancient race called the Arashin were ensnared by powers of the Defurox. The Keeper of Power extracted their souls and used them to power the machine-like Hesharim of which he could fully control. Through more and more experimentation, the Hesharim have evolved into highly specialized war machines.
Defurox
The Keeper of Power and once great enforcer of Lotei fell to corruption a thousand years ago. His crusade against the peoples of Lotei led to the destruction of the world and the creation of the Eight Isles. He has gone missing but his armies recent invasion shows his power still lingers in the world.
Primals of Lotei
Before men roamed the world, massive beasts hunted and preyed upon one another unhindered by civilization. For millennia, the beasts of Lotei have drawn upon the magic and energies of Lotei. Only the truly skilled or insane venture out into the wilds to test the Primals in their territory.
Doje, home to the dog-like Loopin. Inhospitable deserts and horrible swamps mire the western half of the island. Only the eastern seaboard is inhabited, though it has many cities of great population. Bywracle, Keeper of Time teaches the doomseers in the coastal city of Cremleda
Azoreia, home to the Avanna or bird people. Their cities perch atop thin, perfectly balanced pillars in the clouds. Below, sit the refuge cities of the remaining Gaatu. The floating city of Valion has patrolled Lotei through the ages. It is home to the boundless knowledge of the Athenaeum.
Relgrum, home to the powerful Grolen ape-men. Almost completely covered by impenetrable jungles, the riches held within keep Grolen society wealthy and strong. Few still journey to see Aymon, Keeper of Fate in the dense and dangerous jungles. Far fewer ever return.
Cl'klavern, home to the strange spider-like Arachyn. Tasked by the Keeper of Death to wrangle wayward souls to their afterlife, their mysterious tunnel city of Mornhollow is rarely seen by outsiders. Revelers of debauchery and death, they are reincarnated with vague memories of past lives.
Sauria, home to the most diverse race, the Dinorn. The dinosaur people hold many secrets in their forests and jungles. Their empires rise and fall in an everchanging pattern of revolution and tyranny. Ruined cities mar the island, reminders of extinguished lordships and lost battles. Except in the north where the largest and ferocious beasts reside.
Konik, home to the bear-like Urson. One of the most diverse islands, the south is filled with blazing hot beaches and windy plains. The middle is dominated by the highest mountains in the Eight Isles while the north is icy and frozen year round. Only the strongest survive on this island.
Ungulia, home to the hoofed Ungol. The south is filled with swamps and lakes while the north is grassy plains and foothills. The two are broken up by canyons carved by rivers making their way down to the lowlands.
More recently, the Otorom or beings from the sky crash landed on the large central island of Mondus. Since their arrival, they have thrived via trade and alliances with the native races of Lotei, allowing them to claim a home in the dangerous world.
To the east lies the Broken Sea, and across it Old Lotei.
